Mark Gelder Managing Director
I started my career as an apprentice electrician working on military bases across the UK. This enabled me to develop a broad range of skills from high voltage networks through housing maintenance within the industry.
Following my apprenticeship, I was promoted to a supervisor and from then steadily progressed to senior roles within the construction and maintenance industry. For the last 14 years I worked within the social housing sector as National Director of Operations for a housing maintenance provider, prior to joining MCP in November 2021.
As Managing Director, my role is to lead the Senior Management Team and the organisation to deliver our core strategic goals and oversee the compliance, finance and wellbeing throughout the company. I enjoy developing and helping people reach their full potential and have actively mentored apprentices and management trainees over the years on their chosen career path.
Outside of MCP I enjoy road cycling, golf and, when I am allowed, cooking. I also enjoy watching football (I keep an eye out for Doncaster Rovers) and rugby.
Emma Chandler Operations Manager
I have been with MCP for just over 11 years, and have 20 years’ experience within the repairs and maintenance industry. I joined MCP as a Planner, booking appointments and managing the operative’s diaries. I soon progressed my way through various roles as the company expanded; including Customer Services Manager, Office Manager and Contracts Manager. These roles have enabled me to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience of the company’s operations and of managing contracts, which has guided me to my newly appointed role of Operations Manager.
I have responsibility for the performance and operational aspect of our repairs and maintenance contracts, leading and supporting my teams to deliver our strategic objectives.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I am a key influencer in implementing the company’s values and will be integral in developing and driving forward MCP’s Seven Year Strategy.
During my time at MCP, I have taken part in a number of fundraising events for our local charities, which included the St Albans Sleepout for Herts Young Homeless and a firewalk for Teens Unite.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, going for long walks and am also partial to the odd holiday abroad!
Jake Swift Operations Manager
I joined MCP as Operations Manager in September 2022. In this role I am responsible for the operational and commercial performance of our Network Homes contract, leading and supporting my teams to deliver our strategic objectives.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I play an important role in implementing the MCP values and driving the team forward to achieve our strategic growth plans over the coming years.
I have worked in the social housing industry for the last 7 years, starting my career as a Management Trainee and progressing through Planner, Supervisor and Operations Manager roles.
Outside of MCP I enjoy hacking my way around the golf course, watching Formula 1 / MotoGP and spending time with family.
Anna West Director of Talent & Relationships
I joined MCP as our People Manager in 2017, with over 6 years’ experience of working with Housing Associations and nearly 30 years’ experience within HR, Learning & Development. I am passionate about developing people at all levels in line with their personal aspirations and strengths, aligned with the strategic direction of our company.
In addition to management of the HR function at MCP, in my role as Director of Talent & Relationships I also lead the New Business team in securing pipeline opportunities and maintaining our Client relationships.
As MCP’s Social Value Ambassador, I work closely with our existing Clients to ensure that our social value commitments are being delivered on our contracts; this includes working with local schools, colleges and local voluntary groups and charitable partners to create employment and training opportunities.
I am an Enterprises Advisor for Hertfordshire and a Board Member of WISH Eastern (Women In Social Housing) wishgb.co.uk/our-regions/east
In my spare time I love gardening, baking and getting away in my camper van that I have renovated!
Athula Weerakoon Head of Finance
Alpesh Hirani Commercial Manager
I started working on construction sites in early 2001, learning a trade as a Painter & Decorator and my secondary trade as a Carpenter. Following a 4-year stint working on sites, I branched out and formed my own refurbishment company which traded for 3 years. During this time, I felt that I needed to expand my business experience and decided to join a main contractor, working within the social housing sector.
Since 2007, my journey had taken me from being a Voids Supervisor and a Voids Manager. In 2012 I transitioned into the commercial world as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. From then, I progressed within my Quantity Surveyor role to Managing Quantity Surveyor. Throughout my development, I have also mentored and developed my immediate team members as well as management trainees who have gone on to forge their own successful careers within the commercial sector.
Joining MCP in March 2022 as a Commercial Manager, my role is to mentor and develop my commercial team, pushing them to reach their full potential with all my support, experience, and guidance, whilst keeping the company’s best interest at heart. My role is to ensure maximisation of our revenues, whilst forming and maintaining healthy working relationships with not only our MCP team, but our customers and clients alike.
Outside of work, I enjoy watching football and cricket, I play football once a week, golf when it is sunny, eating and having siesta!
