The Joy of Festive Giving
Christmas is often a time of joy and excitement, when people catch up with loved ones and exchange gifts. However, it’s important to remember that it can also be a difficult time for some families, especially those facing financial pressure.
This festive season, MCP is delighted to support the initiatives of three organisations working hard to ensure children in their communities receive a gift this Christmas.
Christmas Toy Appeal, Sandwell Children’s Trust
Children who haven’t had a great start in life can access important support through Sandwell Children’s Trust. Since 2018, the organisation’s team has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children and young people in Sandwell.
Following MCP’s involvement last year, our team is pleased to support the 2024 Christmas Toy Appeal, which aims to ensure that all local children have the opportunity to receive gifts this Christmas.
Our Sandwell Supervisor, Andrzej, was pleased to play the role of Santa, delivering toys to Sandwell Children’s Trust. Our donation of toys forms part of our ongoing social value contribution to the Sandwell area.
Christmas Toy Drive, Sebby’s Corner
Barnet-based charity Sebby's Corner believes no child should go without the essentials they need to thrive. Part of this support is their Christmas grotto. Families and caregivers are given 10 points per child to "spend" in their grotto so no child wakes up without a gift on Christmas morning.
This year, Sebby’s Corner aims to give away over 3,500 toys to families who can’t afford to buy a gift this Christmas. The charity also provides everyday essentials such as clothing, equipment for babies and school supplies such as uniforms and stationery.
Our People Team have asked staff to bring toys to our Head Office in Hertford, for delivery to Sebby’s Corner in time for Christmas.
Giving Tree Initiative, Castle Point
Our Castle Point Contract Manager, Glen, has introduced us to the Giving Tree Initiative that supports the local community at Castle Point in Canvey Island, Essex. It provides Christmas gifts for less fortunate children and supporters are asked to purchase a gift from Castle Point’s
Amazon gift list. Orders are delivered to the Megacentre at Castle Point for families to choose from.
As we count down to Christmas, we hope all the above charities achieve their goals of supporting their local communities … and that everyone involved enjoys the festive season.
