MCP Announced on NHMF Awards Shortlist

The quality and impact of the work provided by MCP are hugely important to our team. With this in mind, we are delighted to announce we have made the shortlist for the National Housing Maintenance Forum’s Best Practice Awards. We are especially pleased to have been successful in our application to the Best Customer Impact category.

The award submission is a collaboration between MCP and Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, with whom we have a close and productive working relationship.

The Best Customer Impact category required key information about how our innovative work has influenced Sandwell MBC’s local communities, including:

· the measurable benefits provided by our work to residents and the Smethwick neighbourhood,
· the value of the support we have offered (including financial costs and time invested), and
· how our approach can be adopted by other organisations as a best practice way of working.

Our pioneering working style achieves positive customer impact, delivered with commitment and enthusiasm. Key to our submission was the innovative way we have met Sandwell MBC’s four pillars of social value.

Pillar 1. Employment and Skills

We were the first contractor to fulfil Sandwell’s ‘Adopt a School’ initiative, committing to a long term relationship with Holly Lodge School, Smethwick.

Pillar 2. Community Engagement

Time spent with local residents enabled us to fully understand community initiatives and determine the best way to deliver support.

Pillar 3. Local Spend

Identifying and establishing a relationship with a local supply chain creates wider support for local businesses.

Pillar 4. Environment

We facilitated an introduction to various environmental community projects, leading to engagement with Litter Watch’s community garden (more details).

In writing our award submission, we were especially proud to receive feedback from those involved with local initiatives and our client Sandwell MBC:

Karen Richards, Social Value Officer at Sandwell MBC:  ‘MCP has been exceptional with their creative and inspirational approach in supporting our residents and community hubs in so many ways. They have gone above and beyond our expectations.’

Alicia Wingfield, Chief Officer, Litter Watch: ‘We are incredibly grateful for the extremely generous donation from MCP, which has significantly elevated our work at the allotment. This space not only fosters a love for nature and sustainability but also provides valuable educational opportunities for the children.’

Khatija Patel, CEO, Ideal for All : ‘Special thanks to MCP for their generous contribution to our kitchen space. This new facility represents collaboration between disabled people and the local community, creating an inclusive and safe environment for all.’

We would like to thank all those who contributed their time to our awards submission and supporting video, including:

Michael Wragg – Senior Social Value Officer, Sandwell MBC

Ethan Bailey  - Marketing and Communications Officer, Sandwell MBC

Sonja Collyer– Environmental Education Officer, Litter Watch
